SPRING 2021 HOME TOUR

There’s nothing like redecorating for a new season! Even small changes here and there throughout your home can bring a renewed sense of purpose to your daily life, and give you a boost of creativity. One of my favourite parts of doing an annual home tour (or in my case, quartlerly tours!) is getting to see how all of those subtle changes throughout the year add up to a big new look in our home! Here’s a link to 2020’s Spring Home Tour – it’s funny, we don’t notice the makeover our spaces undertake until we compare them to the years of yore. That’s probably the second most important reason I do them (the first being to bring you into my home and share inspiration with you!). These home tours are almost like a photo diary for me. I love looking back on how my tastes shifted, and more importantly, how my skillset improved!

Thanks a bunch for being here. Now let’s get to the good part: the photos! Please feel free to pin any photos that speak to you as you go. I finally have the Pinterest feature for you to use!

2021’s Spring Home Tour at the Krause House:

Living Room:

The biggest change this year was probably the addition of our new rugs! This Wayfair rug is part of the Kelly Clarkson Home line. It’s the Rachelle Natural Indoor / Outdoor Area Rug in size 7’9 x 10’10! In fact, I loved the first one so much that I ordered it again for our bedroom, which you’ll see farther into the tour. These rugs are excellent quality, and tie in perfectly with the all-white-aesthetic I lean towards.

See what I mean? A gorgeous rug that completes this space!

Also starring is our cream white sectional from L Furniture and More. You can find the make and model here. Throughout our home you’ll see several touches from a local online Home Decor shop I’m currently partnered with, White Haven Home! Pictured here is the Blush Honeycomb Throw.

Fun fact – this table used to be espresso with a glass top! Tristan and I gave it a makeover and now I’m asked about it often. Perhaps a DIY coffee table blog post is in our future?

Love this inviting and plush space.

I use a lot of pillows like this throughout my home. I always find these oversized Euro sham pillows at HomeSense!

A closer look at the Blush Honeycomb Throw. It’s the perfect vintage pastel pink layering piece!

More White Haven Home goodies! Find the platter here, and the coasters here!

Can you tell I adore this rug? The texture, the colour, *chef’s kiss*. I could not have designed it better myself!

Here’s another big change that happened in the Krause House this year! We finally invested in a… okay, I’m just gonna say it: HUGE-ASS TV! I have to tell you, when Tristan picked this TV out (it’s 57″ compared to our old 36″ – it’s almost 3x the size of the old one!) I had my reservations. TV’s are such an eyesore, and living in a rental we didn’t want to install a wall bracket we would eventually have to remove. When I saw it set up on the fireplace stand, I almost fainted LOL! It’s as big as the stand itself!

But let me tell you… the first time I watched a movie on it, my tune changed completely. As it turns out, large TV’s are much easier to see, and we both have terrible eyesight. Being able to read Netflix titles from the sofa is a gift we didn’t realize we were missing out on!

Here’s a cozy spot next to our TV. I sit here often when I’m writing or storying on social media, having a morning cup of coffee, or when I just get home from a day of errands. It’s the perfect spot to plunk down in and rest.

Dining Room:

Welcome to our dining room. Our dining set is from JYSK, and you can find similar styles here.

Fresh flowers are a must for spring! Lately I’ve been crushing on Bylands Garden Centre in West Kelowna. They make the biggest, lushest, most beautiful bouquets for occasions, or just every day! And I am here to tell you that you should be buying yourself flowers now and then. Life is too short to only receive them on holidays, and FAR too short to never pick out your own perfect bouquet!

Pro tip: to get the ‘Jamie Krause’ look, ask for assorted types of eucalyptus (silver dollar, seeded, and willow are my faves, but any will do), hydrangeas in white, blush, or green, cabbage roses and regular roses in shades of white and pink, and stock flowers in white or pink.

White dishes are ALWAYS in style. Outfit your home with pitchers, bowls, and platters in white ceramic and you can’t go wrong.

Hurricane vases with large pillar candles are always a great look, as well!

Here’s another sweetie from White Haven! These darling beads are my fave, I have another strand on my dresser. You can also purchase these adorable Mini Marble Hearts from White Haven Home!

How I love this pastel floral table runner. It was a HomeSense find last year, they always have the prettiest runners for every season. How great would it be to have an online HomeSense for those that don’t have one in their area, hey? I hope we see that one day soon!

One of my favourite views in our home. Our dining room is one of the spots I’m most proud of decorating, with its ‘farmhouse elegant’ look.

This sideboard is one of my favourite spots in our home to decorate. I’ve been assembling a display of charcuterie boards and platters over here lately, and I’m loving this layered effect!

A few more White Haven pieces. Find the Happy Place sign here, and the Wild Lotus Marble Candle Holder here.

This is the ‘it’ piece of spring 2021!

Funnily enough, this ‘Cheers’ print is also from White Haven – it’s actually a greeting card I framed!

This board might be one of my favourite home decor pieces of all time. It’s from Weddingstar, and it’s only $29.99 with engraving! I honestly buy a lot of my extra special home decor pieces from Weddingstar.

This cute vintage brass horse was a Home Again Consignment score. You’ve probably noticed by now that I’m big on upcycling and finding new uses for vintage and secondhand pieces.

My china cabinet is doubling as both storage AND an office space these days.

An array of different items in like colours and assorted textures keeps the eye moving along.

This adorable latte mug is serving as a mini vase these days. I found it at Mission Thrift Kelowna!

Master Bedroom:

This room has had quite a facelift this year! Along with the Kelly Clarkson Rachelle Natural Indoor / Outdoor Area Rug, we also got our new headboard! Here’s the link if you’d like to purchase the same one. It comes in several colours!

Boy, has our bedroom levelled up this year. I love how it’s coming along, and looking more and more polished! I tell ya, sconces, a headboard and a rug is just the ticket to elevate your bedroom. Well, those and a wreath from Shop Jamie Krause hehe!

Swipe to see the difference a year can make! Not only in the decorative differences, but also in photo quality improvement. I love watching my skills improve!

A ruffled coverlet is always a good idea.

A bedroom isn’t complete without a Shop Jamie Krause wreath over the bed! And how nice it looks with the new upholstered tufted headboard.

A couple of plush pillows from Ikea finishes this cozy space.

A white metal bucket is an interesting choice vs. the usual basket, but I think it works!

Especially when paired with a tasseled throw and beads!

Who doesn’t love waking up to a plush rug under their feet? I’m a firm believer that rugs can be used over carpets in rentals!

I think summer might be coming early to our bedroom, thanks to a couple of kimonos, sun hats, and a beautiful ocean print canvas.

Pictured here is the Wild Lotus Marble Candle Holder, the Dahlia Tealight Candle Holder, and the Mini Marble Hearts.

Thank you for taking the tour today! I hope you’re feeling inspired to spring-ify your home ASAP. Please drop me your email address so I can send my blog posts directly to your inbox next time! You’ll also receive fun extras like wallpapers, and members only exclusive content.

xo, Jamie
