10 WAYS TO ADD SELF-CARE TO EVERYDAY LIFE

If you struggle to add self-care to your day to day life, you are not alone! In the hustle and bustle of our daily responsibilities, it can be hard to block out time for mindful moments. I know for myself, I struggle with creating a routine I can stick to, so I like to have a checklist in my phone with ideas for adding more peace to my life. I’m happy to share some of these ideas with you in partnership with my friends over at Weddingstar, including products that will have you looking forward to creating time for wellness and self-care!

I suggest bookmarking this blog post so you can return to it whenever you need a gentle reminder that you deserve self-care every day…

1. CREATE A MORNING ROUTINE YOU ENJOY

Light stretching, a tall glass of water (spike it with a lemon wedge and a shot of apple cider vinegar for a boost!), and open the blinds to let the light in. Make your bed, make breakfast a priority, and you’ll feel mentally prepared for the day ahead.

2. SKIP THE COFFEE AND DRINK A CALMING HERBAL TEA

Are you struggling with the daily jitters? We know it’s unfathomable, but perhaps it’s time to switch to tea! We promise, loose leaf tea looks so pretty you almost won’t even miss your morning java! Almost…

3. PACK A LUNCH TO LOOK FORWARD TO

Skip the fast food and vending machine lunch and take 20 minutes in the evening to pack yourself a healthy and interesting lunch. Some of our favourites? Charcuterie for one, falafel and quinoa bowls, veggie-filled pasta salad, and protein boxes. Pinterest is your friend for the most fun and exciting lunch ideas!

4. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH CALMING SCENTS

Aromatherapy can work wonders on your mood. Check out Weddingstar’s Fresh Linen or Apples & Cinnamon jar candles for easy mood-boosting that also looks beautiful on the coffee table (not to mention the warm ambience is so peaceful!).

5. DRESS UP FOR YOURSELF

Even if you work from home or are staying in for your day off, taking some time to put on your favourite loungewear, styld your hair the way you like it best, and spending a few extra minutes applying your makeup the way you love can be so good for your mental health.

6. GIVE YOURSELF A MANI/PEDI

Side bonus: you’ll have to take a small phone break until they dry! Living in the moment and doing something nice for yourself feels so uplifting.

7. MAKE TIME FOR REST

Getting your 8 hours (or 7-9, depending on what works best for you) is so important. Treat yourself to a sleep in on your next day off and catch up on those zzz’s!

8. TREAT YOURSELF TO A SPA AFTERNOON IN

I’m talking bubble bath, a fluffy book, glass of wine, and quiet time. Let the family know you’re unavailable for a few hours!

It’s impossible to not feel like you’re at the spa when you surround yourself with waffle fabrics!

9. START A DAILY SKIN CARE ROUTINE

Treat yourself to some facial tools, a good serum, and create a morning and an evening routine. It’s never too early to care for your skin, and you’ll feel pampered and glowy afterwards.

10. ROMANCE YOUR LIFE

Self-care doesn’t have to be only face masks and bubble baths (though we love those as well!). Self-care is also deeply rooted in doing the things we love to do, big or small. So watch the sunset. Smell the roses. Spend time in nature. Give compliments. Accept love. We only get one life, and nothing is too small or too silly. Enjoy the things you gravitate towards unapologetically, and you can’t go wrong!
