FALL 2020 HOME TOUR

Hello there! Welcome to my Fall Home Tour!

If you’re new to the blog, I’m Jamie, and I’m delighted that you’re here! Every season I like to switch up things like linens, throw pillows, floral arrangements, and knick-knacks to reflect the changing weather. Here in Kelowna, we have true 4 season weather, so it’s always fun decorating the inside to match the outside.

When you think of fall, your minds eye probably conjures up visions of deep red apples, brightly coloured orange pumpkins, and crunchy brown leaves. To be honest with you, mine does too! This year however, I decided to embrace my inner girly girl (she usually wins out when it comes to my decorating style), and decorate in shades of pale pink, dusty rose, ivory, beige, and of course, white! I think the end result turned out, well, gorgeous! As it turns out, an unconventional colour palette can still feel very ‘fall’!

Please enjoy the tour, and scroll on to see my home this autumn season:

Our sectional is from L Furniture Kelowna, and these cushions are a mix of HomeSense and IKEA Canada.

That adorable white artichoke was a Home Again Consignment find, one of my favourite small shops here in Kelowna. I displayed it along with a few other white decor pieces, and let the pop of red from the apples take the stage here.

Surprise! This is the first time I’ve been in the home tour! And this isn’t the only time… see you again shortly!

And this is also the first time you’ve been able to shop my handmade decor on my blog! If you didn’t know yet, I opened my own shop this year: shopjamiekrause.com! And if you like that wreath hanging over my sofa, you are in luck – it’s available for purchase in the store.

This natural woven tray is another HomeSense score (it was only $14.99!) that I find myself redecorating every season, and the tall candlestick holders are from Michaels Craft Store. These ones are sold out, but here are the new holders that are very similar. Creating a coffee table vignette is a nice way to show off some of your favourite items in a unique way.

I’ve also included this beautiful rose gold candle from Mila Rose Boutique. Mila is a Canadian small business owner based in Manitoba, and if you know me, you know I adore supporting Canadian made small businesses. This scent, Strawberries & Champagne, is currently 50% off! Run, don’t walk to snag it before it’s gone.

These dusty vintage roses in shades of ivory, coffee, and rose served as my inspiration for my home this year! They were purchased at Michaels.

Ah, I’m so please with these pedestal holders. Investing in a set of these at the end of a season (I got these for 60% off at the end of summer!) is one of my best recommendations for your home. Holders like these add height anywhere you place them, and as long as you choose a neutral colour, they will work year round. Seasonal decor is great and all, but scoring those classic pieces is what helps you build up your base theme.

I like to keep my end tables clean, with a few select pieces, like this hobnail milk glass jar from Afloral filled with a bundle of eucalyptus. Combined with a cage style urn that I spray painted gold (it used to be black!), a simple lamp with a classic shade, and a jar candle from Okanagan Candle Co., this might be my favourite surface in my home.

This Fall scented candle is from the Okanagan Candle Co., and it is the perfect pumpkin spice scent. You can find it here.

Let’s not forget even the tallest surfaces! Creating a display of larger items on top of an armoire or cabinet to add a little cozy, and draw the eye up. Make sure you use a mix of textures and complimentary colours, like how I used a wicker suitcase, a wooden lantern, and a metal birdcage along with some fluffy hydrangeas above. Be sure to leave space between the items, as well as use an item or two that you can see through (like the birdcage), to keep the eye moving along in interest.

A faux fireplace brings warmth to a rental space like no other. I even invested in a mini one for my bedroom this year! You’ll see it later in the tour, but for now, you can find our TV stand fireplace here. It is currently out of stock, but here is a similar one.

I have two of these urns flanking my TV, and I just love them. They’re an easy way to make any surface look a little more ‘finished’. You can find them over on Weddingstar.com, one of my favourite places to shop – a lot of the decor can work in the home, not just for weddings!

Where the magic happens!

This birdcage is also a Weddingstar find! Shop it here.

I scored this unique candelabra at a consignment store here in Kelowna, Home Again Consignment! I couldn’t believe this fabulous find. Check out Home Again today if you live locally!

My porcelain turkey might be my favourite piece of fall decor that I bring out each year. It lights up!

Find our Jysk dining set here.

Hello, again!

A white farmhouse pitcher and platter make a nice, simple centrepiece that’s easy to slide over at mealtimes.

As you may have noticed, I love big, fluffy flower arrangements! I like to keep my white hydrangeas out year round, and I add different colours in depending on the season. This year I’m loving dusty rose everything, so they crept into my vases as well!

My favourite hutch gets a makeover every season, and I used a lot of warm wooden decor pieces, as well as cream sunflowers to my usual white crockery. I love how it turned out.

Adding little touches like these gold cheese spreaders, gold pie lifter and the gold scoop bring a cohesive and fun element to the larger pieces.

Into the kitchen we go! If you’re following me on Instagram, you might remember a joke I made about pig themed decorations – this little guy is an exception!

If you think it looks like I’m not stirring anything… you would be right! I thought I was being sneakier than I was LOL! But check out my stew recipe here – it’s my favourite fall recipe hands down!

It wouldn’t be fall without assorted squash and apples on the counter!

And onto the bedroom, our sanctuary.

One of my favourite places on earth. I’ve strived to create a hotel-like experience for our bedroom, with all white linens, fluffy pillows, and clean surfaces with minimal decor.

Of course, you need a few warm and inviting pieces to make it feel like home! Like this tray with rope handles, and this hobnail jar filled with tea roses.

Since starting my shop, I realized I hadn’t made anything for myself in ages! So, I made this romantic fall wreath to hang over my bed. If you’re looking for the perfect fall wreath, check out my collection for sale here.

If you love this one as much as I do, you can always request a custom wreath similar to this one. Contact me today!

My mom got these mugs for Tristan and I for Christmas the first year we were married – she has a sense of humour, that one!

Pumpkin candles are a must.

The bedroom fireplace I mentioned before! Isn’t it darling? This one sold out fast, but shop similar styles here. Not only is is lovely ambient lighting, it is in fact a mini heater! I know I will be enjoying that feature this winter, here in frosty Canada.

I hope you enjoyed the tour today! I just love the warm, inviting feel of autumn decorating. Have a wonderful fall season, and let me know what you loved most in the tour!

xo, Jamie
