If you’ve been looking for a sweet favour to gift to your guests at your wedding or next special event, these recipe jars might be just the ticket! We all know I’m not much of a baker, so these mug recipes are definitely something I would love to receive myself. There is truly nothing sweeter than a handmade gift, and with my newest partner, Weddingstar, it has never been easier – or more affordable!
In this blog post we are serving up 4 unique recipes: a gooey white chocolate and macadamia nut mug cookie, a decadent and chewy fudge mug brownie, iced tea bottles with a homemade citrus garnish, and my personal favourite; bottled lavender lemonade mix!

The best part about the mug dessert recipes is that you can switch up the ingredients to suit your theme. Red roses at your wedding? Pop some red m&m’s into the brownie recipe! Pink table decor at your bridal shower? Swap out the white chocolate in the cookie recipe for pink candy melts! As long as you keep the ratio of flour, sugar and cocoa in the recipes in tact, the sky is the limit with a good mason jar recipe.
As for the iced tea and lemonade? They are just as versatile! Instead of a lemon garnish on the iced tea, try a fresh rosemary sprig. In place lavender in the lemonade, pop in dried citrus or dried raspberries. With this guide in your back pocket, you’ll always have an easy DIY favour to make on the fly.
Tip: if you have guests with food allergies or sensitivities, set out signs to clearly mark favours that contain nuts and/or gluten. Here are some of our favourites:

1. WHITE CHOCOLATE MACADAMIA MUG COOKIE

INGREDIENTS:
- 1tbsp. sugar
- 1tbsp. brown sugar
- 1/4c. flour
- 2 bakers white chocolate squares (or 2tbsp. chocolate chips)
- 1.5 tbsp macadamia nuts
- 1tbsp. sprinkles (optional)
- Salt, to taste
ASSEMBLY DIRECTIONS:
Layer flour, salt, brown sugar, white sugar, macadamia nuts, and white chocolate into jar. Top with sprinkles if desired, and lid tightly. Top with a personalized sticker, and attach directional tag with a ribbon or two. Pro tip: Add your lid tag after the lid is on the jar, and already tightened. This ensures that the tag will be straight (and look perfect in photos!).
DIRECTIONS FOR THE TAG:
“Butter the inside of a microwave safe mug, and add 1tbsp. melted butter, and 1 egg. Stir in contents of jar, taking care not to over stir. Microwave 1 minute. Serve with pecan ice cream, or a spoonful of raspberry jam. Enjoy!”

2. FUDGE TOFFEE MUG BROWNIE

INGREDIENTS:
- 3tbsp. flour
- 3tbsp. sugar
- 1.5tbsp. cocoa powder
- 2tbsp. chocolate chips
- 1tbsp. toffee bits, or white and gold sprinkles (optional)
- Salt, to taste
ASSEMBLY DIRECTIONS:
Layer sugar, salt, flour, cocoa powder, and chocolate chips into jar. Top with toffee bits or sprinkles if desired, and lid tightly. Top with a personalized sticker, and attach directional tag with a ribbon or two. Pro tip: Add your lid tag after the lid is on the jar, and already tightened. This ensures that the tag will be straight (and look perfect in photos!).
DIRECTIONS FOR THE TAG:
“Butter the inside of a microwave safe mug, and add 1.5tbsp. melted butter, and 1/4tsp. vanilla extract. Stir in contents of jar, taking care not to over stir. Microwave 1 minute. Serve with french vanilla ice cream, and a handful of fresh berries. Enjoy!”

3. LAVENDER LEMONADE

FOR THE LAVENDER:
Please be advised that not all lavender is created equal. Purchase food-grade dried lavender petals from your local bulk food store, or dry untreated lavender from your own garden if you can. If purchasing lavender from a florist, it is imperative that you ensure that it is food-grade, and has not been sprayed with chemicals or preservatives. This can make your guests very sick.
FOR THE LEMONADE:
This favour is as simple as it gets! Alternate a bottle or jar with lemonade powder and dried lavender, cap, and add a ribbon and direction tag. Shake the jar if you prefer the blended appearance in the photo above, or leave as is for a layered look. Pro tip: gently tap the jar on your hand or countertop to settle the powder as you go. This will ensure your bottles don’t compress during transit and appear 1/4 empty upon arrival at your venue.
DIRECTIONS FOR THE TAG:
“Add 2tbsp. lemonade mix to a glass, stir well and place in fridge for 1 hour to steep. Strain lavender petals, add a straw and enjoy! Optional: Add ice and a fresh lemon wedge.”

4. ICED TEA WITH DRIED LEMON GARNISH

FOR THE LEMONS:
Factor in lemon per 4 favour jars, and calculate the quantity you’ll need. Slice lemons roughly 1cm (or 1/3in) thick, and spread out neatly on a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake slices for 2, to 2 and a half hours on 200°, turning 2-3 times. Take extra care not to burn. Allow to cool and fully dry overnight if left with a little stickiness.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS:
This favour is as simple as it gets! Simply fill each jar to the top with ice tea powder, cap, and add a ribbon, lemon slice, and direction tag. Pro tip: gently tap the jar on your hand or countertop to settle the powder as you go. This will ensure your bottles don’t compress during transit and appear 1/4 empty upon arrival at your venue.
DIRECTIONS FOR THE TAG:
“Add 4tsp. to a glass of water, stir well and enjoy! Optional: Add ice, and a sprig of mint or rosemary.”
