Who says autumn themes must always be red, orange and yellow? This gorgeous and mellow-toned tablescape certainly proves otherwise! In the softest pastel shades of pink, sage, powder blue and lilac, this table setting is an incredible example of how the rise of light, bright, and pink-toned palettes can transition seamlessly into a fall wedding or event. Using dreamy vintage-themed elements like birdcages and antique book favours, along with plenty of gold accents and white oak leaves, I call this look ‘A Vintage Romance’. I think it’s a very fitting name, for a very dreamy and whimsical table. It will be sure to have all of your guests gushing, and more importantly, will keep conversation flowing with plenty of adorable conversation-starters within hand’s reach!

In this tutorial, you will learn how to put together a look just like this, thanks to my friends at Weddingstar Inc., where almost every decor accent pictured here has been sourced from. Weddingstar is your one-stop-shop for all things wedding, shower, birthday and more. As you may have noticed, I could gush about how much I love this company all day long! Based in Alberta, Canada (right next door to where I live in British Columbia), Weddingstar has been a top leader in the gift and event industry for over 35 years. Serving North America-wide as well as Australia, this company makes decorating easy and fun, by staying at the forefront of all wedding trends year after year. Creating blog posts with and for Weddingstar is a true joy I am happy to partake in.

That brings us back to this beautiful and elegant tablescape. As mentioned above, in this post you’ll discover how to recreate this stunning look for your next autumn gathering, and you’ll be surprised at how simple (and affordable) it is. Better still, you can transition this long-table look into smaller tables for a wedding as well, thanks to several smaller design elements incorporated in this look.

Let’s begin!

Start with a crisp, white tablecloth for your tablescape. Try a style with texture, like the vine-designed cloth pictured here. Add a velvet or burlap runner like these options from Weddingstar. For a more romantic look, add a chiffon sash or even a few yards of soft tulle, woven over the runner. Pro tip: take a few minutes to iron your textiles before you begin. You’ll be glad you did! Smooth, clean fabrics keep the eyes moving along the display.

Next, add a statement piece to the centre of your table, like this curvy candelabra taper candle holder. Shiny, gold tones warm up the table setting.

Don’t forget the candles! Real or faux, whatever you prefer.

For smaller tables (like those in a wedding), try groupings of separate candle holders, like these Weddingstar options.

Add in several bud vases scattered along the runner, like these gilded options. The palest of pink tea roses combined with bleached oak leaf branches meld perfectly into this display. Pro-tip: pull a few leaves off of the branches and scatter them down the table, along with a few faux rose buds. This adds to the dreamy quality of the table, and gives it an, ‘Oh, this? I just threw it together!’ appeal.

Small Metal Birdcage With Suspended Tealight Holder

White and ivory birdcages are a must, for a vintage romance tablescape. You may also try spray painting them in gold or blush, if you prefer a little more colour!

Prefer a larger, statement making bouquet? Display them in Weddingstar’s Provençal Pitcher!

*Be sure to place a glass of water inside the pitcher; while it is a gorgeous display piece for all French-themed tables, it is not a fully leakproof vessel.

If you struggle to set silverware in the correct setting, try this whimsical trick – simply tie your cutlery with a gauzy or detailed ribbon and call it a day!

And last, but certainly not least, the pieces to tie our entire ‘Vintage Romance’ look together: the antique book favour kits. Intended to hold guest favours inside, you may tuck a chocolate or treat within and set them on each setting, or adorn them with vintage style ribbons and place along the table as a decor accent. Or perhaps both…?

And there you have it, the prettiest tablescape for the event of your dreams!
