Are you planning a bridal shower for a special Mrs.-to-be, and in need of some fun and festive wedding-themed activities to include in the event? This is the blog post you’ve been looking for! My partner company, Weddingstar Inc. and I have just the thing to make the next bridal shower you throw an event guests won’t soon forget.

Why throw a bridal shower? The most obvious reason is to celebrate the bride, of course! Showering a new wife-to-be with gifts like housewares, home decor, lingerie and more, to take with her into the next stage of life, has been a long-standing tradition for over a century. This Is one tradition that is here to stay!

Aside from celebrating the bride, there is another huge perk to throwing a shower. It is the perfect way to introduce the bridal party, the bride’s family, and her soon-to-be in-law’s to one another ahead of the big day. Having inside jokes and fun memories of the shower will set the tone for a fantastic wedding day, and create new friendships that just may last long afterwards!

Preparing activities and talking points beforehand is a great addition to any party, as it makes it that much easier for guests to mingle and mix without the added pressure of coming up with small talk. Cocktails help too, of course (check out these signature Weddingstar cocktails for inspiration!), however bridal shower games prepared by the hostess ahead of time are the perfect way to encourage amusement for all.

The games you choose will set the tone for the event, so it’s important to choose the right ones. Playing a few on-theme games are not only a fantastic icebreaker, but also offer an opportunity for everyone to bond, share laughter, and create unforgettable memories.

How should you choose which games to play? You’ll want to choose a few different types, to keep guests engaged and interested throughout. We suggest choosing a few written games, as well as a few physical ones. That way there is something for everyone, and more introverted guests (there are always a few!) can choose which to participate in. This leads us to another important piece of advice to consider: if a guest would rather sip a cocktail and observe, give them the space to participate if they choose to. The best hostess is one who keeps things light, fun, and welcoming for all!

A tip to encourage participation: offer a selection of fun prizes, like makeup, jewelry, candy, snacks, home decor and fashion items. You don’t have to spend a lot by any means, as even a selection of hair accessories, beauty products, candles and sweets from your local bargain shop will do the trick! Display them in a few baskets around the room, and provide ‘goody bags’ for guests to stow their winnings in (we’ve provided a few Weddingstar options in this post). You may be surprised at how quickly guests get their ‘competitive’ hats on once they see the treats. Your bridal shower will soon become the best they’ve ever attended!

1. The Panty Game

This flirty game is the best icebreaker we know! Preparations must be made in advance for this one, so we find it easiest to include a note in your invitations that this game will be played. Have the note read for everyone bring a new pair of panties in the bride’s size. The catch? The guest must choose a panty that matches their personality as closely as possible!
As the guests arrive, provide a basket, box or vase for them to leave their contribution in, where the bride will not see them – an entryway console table, or bathroom counter are great spots. Add a cute sign (“Drop Your Panties here!”) next to the vase if you like!
To play this game, gather everyone into the living space (cocktail in hand), while the Maid of Honour holds each pair up for the bride to see. From here, you can really customize how to play this game! Consider implementing rules such as, ‘3 incorrect guesses and she has to take a drink!’, or, ‘if she gets it on the first try, the guest gets a prize!’.
This game loosens up a crowd like no other, and afterwards the bride has a new collection of undies for her trousseau and newly married life!

2. Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Designers

This might be the most on-theme game in the list! To play the toilet paper dress game, you will need the following supplies:
· Toilet paper, and lots of it (2-3 per team)
· Scotch tape (1 roll per team)
· Scissors for each team
· Decorative accents (ribbons, florals, gems, lace)
· Award pins
To play this game, divide guests into teams (it’s okay if they’re uneven!), and have each team select a ‘Bride’. Set a timer for an amount of time of your choosing (10 minutes for a quick game, 30 minutes to let the creativity flow). Then, let the games begin! Using the provided notions, guests will design a wedding dress directly onto their bride using the toilet paper and accents. Afterwards, the bride chooses her favourite as the winner! To add even more flair to this game, order a few of Weddingstar’s bridal party pins and pin them to each dress. Don’t forget the photo op!

3. Best Date Night Idea

This is a game where everybody wins! Have each guest write (in detail) their perfect date night. Encourage them to be as specific as they like. After everyone has added their date to the jar, have the Maid of Honour or the bride’s sister reach them aloud to the room. At the end, have everyone vote for their favourite! You can do this anonymously, or instruct guests to sign their name to their idea, the choice is yours. Reward the winner with a prize, though everyone wins with this one by coming away with a variety of new date ideas to try in the future.

Again, you can play this anonymously at the get-go, or include the names of each contributor as you read them out. At the end, the winner receives a prize and the bride gets to tuck these special handwritten cards away in her memory box.

6. FIND THE HIDDEN OBJECTS, WIN A PRIZE

This game is one that will appeal to the quieter guests in the crowd, as it requires no instruction other than simply setting out a sign with the rules, and has a ‘treasure hunting’ appeal. Choose a small object in bulk that fits the theme, and hide them all over the main areas of the party; typically the living room, kitchen, and bathroom. Have guests keep their eyes peeled for these objects over the course of the party, and at the end, tally who collected the most. Award them with a prize!

7. Weddingstar’s Truth or Dare Scratch Game

Most of your guests won’t have played Truth or Dare since they were children, and that makes this one extra fun for everyone! Pro-tips? Keep the ‘truths’ and ‘dares’ light and wedding themed and/or specific to the engaged couple, and at the end, let everyone who participated choose a favour prize.
