Sometimes, girls just wanna have fun!
Well, girls and their non-binary and/or male friends that love rosé, that is! This post is all about friendship, spending time with those you love, and was written for anyone that loves an evening of giggles with best friends. We’ll drink to that!
We all love to have fun with our buds, however friends night in can start feeling, well… a little stale, if you haven’t deviated from your normal routine in awhile. Perhaps some new ideas are in order! In partnership with Weddingstar, I’ve compiled a list of our tried-and-true favourite girls night activities, as well as some new and interesting ideas to try out for your next girls night in. Of course, along the way I’ll be sharing some of my Weddingstar faves to kit out your next get-together, such as robes, slippers, home decor, and even favours to send your besties home with.
BLEND: 65% Gamay Noir, 35% Merlot
• A summer rose petal pink colour.
• This Rosé begins with lovely notes of strawberry, Rainier cherry, watermelon, pomegranate, raspberry, and a touch of earth.
• At first taste, expect a refreshing and juicy wine with fruity flavours of red berry and pink grapefruit, then finishing dry, with notes of tangy red berry, pink grapefruit and cranberry.
• Excellent with tapas; antipasto plates; feta bruschetta; whole grain summer salads; buffalo mozzarella and tomato salad; Greek salad; grilled salmon; crab cakes; grilled calamari; pissaladiere; Margherita pizza; grilled pork tenderloin; feta cheese; Tourtiere with tangy chili sauce.
The months of May and June experienced cool, wet conditions which slowed growth, disrupting some spring bud development thereby reducing crop load in the vineyards. Summer began with a bang and from early July through August there was consistent sunshine, high heat units and timely rains. A very warm September provided the perfect conditions for any lagging maturity resulting from the slow spring start. The great weather continued into October, extending hang time for some varietals that needed that extra push. Overall, it was a great growing season with healthy canopies, the ability for the vines to respond to the weather, and fewer periods of shut down due to extreme heat, therefore allowing grape maturity to continue on an even and steady rate with optimum conditions. – Sandhill Wines
I’m fascinated with reading about what makes each wine unique, don’t you? And speaking from experience, this wine is superb! Sandhill was sweet enough to gift me two bottles of this special vino, one for me and one for a friend. Here in the Okanagan, Sandhill’s Rosé rollout is a big deal, and I was thoroughly inspired by how perfectly their quintessential bottle paired with Weddingstar’s new Coral Jersey Robe. Keep an eye out for an array of new colours, coming to the website soon!
Before we dive into the ideas, let’s set the scene at your place with some of the best Girls-Night-In inspired Weddingstar decor pieces to adorn your space:
Brand new to the website, these gold trays come in sets of two with two sizes available, medium and large. The spindle candle holders come in 4 styles, including pink, black, navy blue and white. I am super into the 70’s vibes of the pink candle holders combined with the gold tray!
A well placed cheeky ‘Bachelorette’ banner can be used for a girls night in, alongside crystal candleholders and bud vases.
11 IDEAS FOR YOUR NEXT GIRLS NIGHT IN
1. Have a rosé tasting featuring local wines
Have everyone bring their preferred bottle, and put them to the test. Our pick is obviously Sandhill’s Rosé! What will you be bringing to the tasting?
Serve your rosé’s in one of Weddingstar’s wide array of pink stemware.
2. Order in from a local restaurant no one has tried before (but has great reviews)
Bonus points if you choose a local small restaurant! Order a few different dishes to share, and leave a kind review afterwards.
3. Have a mini-food tour in the comfort of your own home
To take idea 2 one step further, order similar take-out from 3-5 different restaurants, and decide on your favourites.
4. Play children’s games you loved as kids
Think Truth or Dare, Never Have I Ever, Rock, Paper, Scissors, board games, or, if you’re feeling extra silly (and don’t mind your place being a little deconstructed), think Hide and Seek or fort building.
5. Have a mani/pedi contest
Vote for your favourite designs afterwards, and prepare a prize for the winner ahead of time. Maybe a luxurious robe like one of the options above…? With options from $19.99-$29.99, you don’t have to break the bank to treat one of your besties. Not to mention, there just might be a discount code waiting for you at the end of this post…
6. Plan your next friends trip
Whether it’s abroad, to an Airbnb close by, or a big group camping trip, planning an adventure as a group really gets the anticipation going! Prepare for the trip in advance with some of Weddingstar’s travel essentials, like the bags pictured below.
7. Make vision boards
How great was it as a kid to create collages out of magazine cut outs? Turns out, it’s still a ton of fun! Whether you make physical vision boards or Pinterest vision boards (maybe even a shared Pinterest board?), talking about your dreams and goals in good company feels oh-so-good.
8. Have a clothing or home decor swap
Go shopping in your own homes and wardrobes! Have anyone that wants to participate bring a box of their gently used home goods and pre-loved clothing items, and put on a swap meet. You never know, maybe your friend has something you would love and vice versa.
9. Try new makeup looks
Practice new makeup looks, OR do each other’s makeup. Maybe you’ll find some new favourite eyeshadow looks or lip colours to add to your rotation.
*Remember to always practice safe hygiene with eye and lip products. For safest results, purchase a few brand new products for the party and have anyone using them apply using clean makeup brushes or cotton swabs.
10. Create your own signature cocktails
Grab a variety of juices, club soda, spirits and liqueurs and have fun with it. Get extra fancy with garnishes such as rimming sugars, salts and spices, herbs and fruit, and if anyone is into savoury drinks, make sure to have some pickled garnishes and olives. If you need to make this more affordable, ask your guests to bring a few items each and get creative with what everyone brings along.
11. Surprise your guests with favours
Personalized matching tees to commemorate the night are a fun one! You could also treat each guest to an engraved compact, or cute bottle openers. Weddingstar has a ton of favour options.
